Guild Wars 2 - My Thoughts

Warning if you are fawning over GW2 you may not want to read this.

Guild Wars 2 created by ArenaNet is a interesting game to say the least, it tries to break off from the standard MMO market developing a game that is unique and fun. Through use of a Dynamic combat system and Dynamic events and Dynamic this and that, but the problem is that when you use the word "Dynamic" it has to actually be that to be Dynamic.

What Guild Wars 2 has instead is Events that occur every like 10~20 minutes and they aren't random, they aren't interesting, they usually involve defending something, escorting something, or assaulting something, if you stand in the same place it started you will encounter the same event over and over and over. Sure there's events elsewhere you can go do, but would it of killed them to make like 1 other event for that area and then maybe random between those two or anything? I mean at least Rift had entire event zones that were persuado random where things popped up, this is literally the same thing over and over.

Character Customization is almost none existent they add a bunch of sliders to make you feel like you are getting a bunch of customization but in the end all you do is choose between a preset then slightly modify it. Clothes are fairly ugly and you only find maybe 1 new set per 10 levels then you are stuck with it regardless of whether you like it or not, of course you can transmute it but by that time you will of found a better piece of equipment.

Underwater Combat makes no sense at all you get another weapon completely to use underwater and have to keep it upgraded as well as a helmet except you never find them except for when you do underwater stuff, kiting underwater is pretty much none existent as mobs move much faster than you, some spells are not usable underwater for no apparent reason. For some reason you also cast 2x faster while underwater with no explanation why, I'm not sure if it's a glitch that hasn't been caught yet or if it's intentional to make things more interesting?

Really, the game I recently reviewed Project Zomboid I played had less bugs than this game and it's in alpha. You walk around and there's just invulnerable mobs everywhere standing around for no apparent reason, broken quest, broken skill points, Completely failed tool tips, People can mail you while they are blocked (but only if you are offline when they mail you), the auction house breaks if you scroll pages to fast, it wasn't even up for the first like week, exploits that you can buy and sell items back to merchants for a increased income.

I get it, games have issues at launch but this isn't because of server problems or unexpected variables lol, this is because they released their game way before it was done, I mean lets be honest the reason they didn't do more betas was because they knew people would get bored of their game, they didn't open up the full game because they knew people would get bored if they did that, it's exactly like Diablo 3's betas pretty much exactly like Diablo 3 except now all the fans feel the need to defend it, where as the Diablo 2 fans realized Diablo 3 is nothing like what they wanted.

I'm not saying this game isn't good, there's nothing wrong with it in the sense of concept, it is a breath of fresh air from the same old crap, but that doesn't mean it deserves reviews like 9.3, 10, 100, 93% etc.. It's a fairly average game and with no end game once you hit level 80 either you go around zerging in WvW or there's nothing left to do. You aren't going to be playing it 5 years from now, you aren't going to dedicate your life to it lol, You pay 60$ play it for maybe 50, 100 hours and that's the end of it.

I mean really look at this shit.. "charging a spell that will cure all of two conditions" wow.. who the fuck spell checked their game. Sadly it hardly matter since 90% of the utilities and completely useless anyways compared to other overpowered utilities. They basically took GW1's system that promoted experimenting with different spells and setups, made it retard mode then released it back to us.

Or here lets take a look at their "Post Processing" feature.

Umm... I'm no expert here but.. that looks more like giant fucking bloom mode then Post Processing it should have a warning on it that says, "Warning this feature may induce seizures." Not to mention that despite having 2 levels of post processing past none they both do exactly the same thing. >.>

Here's a good one if you look towards the middle you will notice the stone ground has randomly combusted into flame and has stayed lit long enough for everyone to move away from the scene. I'm no expert here but I'm pretty sure "Stone" doesn't randomly catch of fire.

Honestly the best part of this game is probably the voice acting.. except there's no customization within the voice acting every girl in the game sounds the same just like every male sounds the same lol.. not even 1 other option.

Literally I could go on for hours about all the things in this game that make no sense, don't work, or are just completely stupid. But I'm sure no one cares the least bit if they enjoy the game lol.

Really go watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&NR=1&v=usDj1GCWKQo no I will wait...

That video is more entertaining and makes more sense then GW2 and that is all.

No but really if you like GW2 good for you, keep with it and support the company I'm sure they will fix everything eventually. I just felt like ranting about all the stuff that pisses me off in that game.
